...this Bears team has been so much fun to watch that I'll feel severely conflicted if/when they play the Football Giants in January.

The Giants do bad things to people who throw footballs for a living.

Regular season Giants aren't the same as playoff Giants.

While this is true, I'm not terribly afraid of the Giants as of yet. Last year their defense largely struggled in the regular season due to injury, and got healthy in time for the playoffs. This year they've been largely healthy and still kinda shitty. They haven't been getting the same kind of production from just their front four and their secondary is iffy at best and sort of always has been when those four guys up front don't just slaughter people. Also, over-emphasizing the terror that was the Giants during their two postseason runs to the Superbowl ignores the times in 2005, 2006, and 2008 where they made one and done appearances or their 2009 and 2010 collapses. They're a good team. Certainly a threat, and obviously the Bears need to show that their offense can consistently score against good defenses before we start dismissing other NFC contenders, but that's no reason to dismiss the Giants' defensive woes as something surely to disappear by January. Clearly the team that should keep us all awake at night is, has been, and always will be, the Cheddar Horde of the North.
