...I really want Brandon McCarthy to be a Cub, partially (mostly?) because he makes me laugh on Twitter. Does this make me some sort of modern day meatball?

You didn't mention GRIT, or playing the game the right way, or his win/loss record, so no.
Your toilet's broken, Dave, but I fixed it.

...I don't hate the idea of the Cubs kicking the tires on Melky Cabrera.

Hell no, I don't. If there's seriously a reduced price tag on him because of the drugs even better.

I have faith that Thed would not over-value his one outlier season and throw fuck you money at him with a no trade clause and the like. If he would take an incentive-laden deal to play here for one season, understanding he will be dealt as soon as the time is right, I say kick them tires boys. I think somebody will offer him more than that though.

This was discussed at length one day on that other site where people waste time in the little box in the corner and I was all for this as well.

I, for one, am looking forward to his Lincoln review before I see it Saturday.

Stew can account for the historical accuracy of the 1860's.

Yes, but only because I am currently reading James McPherson's epic "Battle Cry of Freedom".  I was a toddler back in the '60's.

...the only time I ever liked Jim Harbaugh was the game where, as the starting quarterback, he yelled back at Ditka.  But I am really tired of his whiney act as a coach.

Jim Harbaugh is creepy and weird.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Possibly my single favorite one-volume history book, ever.

...I signed the White House petition to punch Grover Norquist in the dick.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

... the Bears have put me in a pissy mood all week. I am trying to cheer myself up by talking about "firing people and hiring others who have fire and passion". Put it this way: They are 5-0 against average to below average NFL teams, but are 0-2 against actual contending teams. Let's not forget this part: I am already thinking to myself that the Bears are technically tied for first place with the Packers rather than a game up. If it's not for that screw up by the replacement refs in the game against the Seahawks, the division lead is tied. Besides, the Packers beat the Bears already so they would own the tie-breaker.
