... I find the instant memorializing/glass encasement of Schwarber's home run yesterday just a little bit weird.

Yes, but I'd be ready for a lot more of this kind of thing.  If they win the World Series I fully expect that every piece of equipment the Cubs have including Matt Szczur will be shipped to Cooperstown and put on display the following day.

That's all fair. It might just be a general feeling of "don't jinx it." And also that Schwarber's home run was an insurance run and not the game-winner.

Eh, I'm sure they were also just taking the awesomeness of the feat itself into account.  I

... DPD.  I may not be an entirely objective observer, but I can't immediately remember ever before seeing anybody swing a bat that hard.

EDIT: I just watched it again (and again, and again...) and he doesn't even fucking begin to unload until that ball is but three feet short of the plate.  Mother of God.

It is fairly apparent to me that this Cubs doesn't give a tinker's damn about jinxes (and god bless them for that, I wish I could say the same).

I also think its a way to give a new part of Wrigley a little 'instant legend' status.  There are some people out there who made a lot of groaning about the video boards and blocking the rooftops.  Those people are idiots, but they buy tickets too.
Andre Dawson paid his $1,000 fine for the Joe West incident with style. Dawson wrote ``Donation for the blind`` in the memo section of his personal check.

Yeah, the scoreboard might be 418 feet away. He was probably shorted at least 70 feet.

I guess you could look at it as something post-bat flip. It was such an awesome home run against such a reviled franchise, the exclamation point on a revolt's successful end, that they're just going to leave the ball there. You look at this, St. Louis. A physical reminder of your season's end. It's going to sit there and it will be referenced every single time the Cubs play at Wrigley Field. I hope Cardinal fans tune in and have to listen to the announcers talk about it.

Going back to Cusack: from all accounts of people I know who have met him/worked on films he's been in, he's a colossal dickface. Combine that with the Sox bullshit and he can get fucked.

Okay, if he's a shithead in person, then I'd agree he can get fucked.
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.
