I'm not mad. I am just very sad. God I hope these kids can come back. I had really started to let myself be talked into them being the group to do it.

They've got the core that will do it. Whether it's this year or at some point prior to 2020. But they are winning the World Series in this time frame.

I don't know why this annoys the piss out of me but it does.

Probably because I said something about talking myself into thinking this team (specifically the 2015 Cubs, who won 97 games and are currently in the national league championship series) would be the team to actually win the world series and Fork responded with the expected response about the vague, nebulous future? They're here right now and they're pissing it away and it makes me sad and while of course there should be better days in the future the mere fact that this is the first time I've watched my team in the NLCS in 12 fucking years makes it hard for me to just shrug this one off if they get swept.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

...I'm taking 24 off from baseball.  I'll go listen to some music or something.  Take a Xanax.  Just try to relax.

Nothing is guaranteed and I definitely don't buy the "this is the worst Cubs team for the next 5 years" shit at all. Arrieta will regress. Injuries will happen. Players will slump.

You're here now. Make the most of it.

It's going to be a brutal fucking week if they don't pull it together. But I don't think it's going to be a devastating loss that takes its toll over the course of a generation like the last handful. I think you'll all look back on this season and smile, starting in about a month.

Not me of course. I'll be dead.

Austin City Limits was great last night. It put my in a decent mood after the game. Then I went on Facebook and a sports related status made me rage. I should have stuck with the music to cheer me up and avoided all possible references to baseball.

The Star Wars trailer comes out today. That's my distraction.

Because it's like the 400th time Fork has guaranteed the Cubs winning a title in the next five years.

Probably because, in baseball, nothing is guarnateed. The best team rarely wins the World Series. The best organizations can only put their teams in a position to succeed more often than not, hoping that they can punch, at least once, through what is normally a five year window.

..after the first inning, I was pretty dispassionate about the rest of the game. Resigned to yesterdays' fate, I guess.

My wife had a meeting, so I was solely responsible for my son. That was a nice distraction. Gave him a bath, read him a story, played with his favorite toy duck. Kept me from making no more than 7 or 8 tweets that I'll hopefully live to regret.

I'm fighting a head cold, so by the 4th inning I popped some nyquil and had an early night.

I sent an angry text to my brother along the lines of "How does this banjo hitting slapdick piece of shit motherfucker keep doing this?" and felt a little better.

I had some people over and they all kept assuming I wanted to watch the Cubs game and I kept switching the Pats-Colts and they didn't understand why.
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.
