There are actually a few decent seasons before it goes completely off the rails.

It peaks when Jed rips a butt and cusses out God in Latin Josh meets with Adam Arkin's character in S2.

Just my two cents. But, yeah, it falls off pretty hard after that.

Yeah, that's probably the high water mark.

High water mark, certainly, but it's worth watching until Sorkin leaves at the end of s4.

Wife and I tried to rewatch the series a few years back. I think we made it through the first 3 or 4 episodes of Season 5 before we realized what total and utter shit it was. For what it's worth, people regard seasons 6 and 7 as being a bit better, but I'd still rather forget them than watch them again.
