Y'all cry an awful lot.

We'll take you out to a dumpster full of spoiled potatoes and see how you hold up.

Seems like a weird thing for *you* to admit.

I've started to think there's something wrong with me for just smiling a lot about the Cubs winning a World Series instead of crying all the time.

... as much as I really want the Cub's to finish this in four games, there is a part of me that doesn't want it to end and for it to go on as long as possible.

I know, I suck.

In hindsight, a seven-game, drama-filled series would probably make for amazing memories.

From where I sit right now, I want a stress-free coronation.

I feel like this should be bumped.

To each their own. Not surprising that those of us most prone to feeling the DOOM and rage are also the ones most incapable of controlling our emotions when they actually do win it all. Don't care how you celebrate, point is we're celebrating together.

I was being earnest, so no judgment from me. I think I had always assumed it would be more emotional, but it's really just felt like, "That was a blast, let's do it again sometime!"

Yeah, and I doubt I'd ever have that response again. Also for all of the anger and spittle I devoted to the Bears over the years they'd have never gotten such a reaction from me either.

I make no secret of the fact that I mostly associate baseball with my Grandpa, who is the reason I am a Cubs fan and was probably the most important person in my development as a human being beyond my own parents. We lost him right after 2003, and my last real conversation with him before he couldn't really respond anymore was about the Cubs and him telling me to keep my head up and never give up the faith, that they'd do it in my lifetime even if they wouldn't do it in his. I think that's really informed a lot of the way-too-strong emotions I've had about them in the intervening years. He was the first thing I thought of when they actually did it.

DPD, but also if you're my age this was the first time you've actually seen any of your teams do something other than fail miserably on the biggest stage. I was born well after the 85 Bears and yet too young to appreciate the Jordan Bulls. I never lived in Chicago so the Blackhawks weren't even a thing because you couldn't even watch them on fucking TV (thanks Bill) until 2008 or whatever. Their championship runs have been neat but there's never really been much of an attachment to them.

It was pretty fucking cathartic.

Tears have welled up in my eyes, but not streaming down my face and there has been no sobbing.

Honestly, making me cry at things I see on television isn't hard. There's multiple times I've cried at both the Simpsons and Futurama for chrissakes.

I was as certain this team was going to win at least one World Series, probably more than a couple, as I was that when Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews became Chicago Blackhawks they were going to win a Stanley Cup.

That hasn't stopped me from shaking my head every time I see or hear anything that reminds me the Cubs actually won the fucking thing.

I'm reminded by something Ernie Banks said..."sometimes you've got it in the bag, and the bag breaks."
