To be a ray of sunshine for Apex, sometimes great teams need a loss or two like the games Purdue has just had in the middle of the season. The 2005 North Carolina title team, the squad that only beat the best team Illinois has ever had for a national title, had a 13 point loss to Wake Forest on 1/15/05 after winning 13 of 14 games in double digits. After that, their only defeats were a one-pointer to Duke and a 3-point ACC Tournament loss to Georgia Tech*.

* = With quite possibly some of the most dubious officiating I have ever seen. The ACC knew heading into that game that UNC was a lock for a 1 seed while the Jackets were on the bubble for the Tournament...

I guess that was progression to the mean after shooting 10% for the entirety of a 3-game losing streak. And those were fucking circus shot side of the ass heaves that Illinois was hitting in the final two minutes. Thanks. My fucking heart stopped for 18.4 seconds.
