Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO from Apple, Inc.

QuotePRESS RELEASE: Letter from Steve Jobs

August 24, 2011–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

The early guess is he must be in pretty poor and worsening health.  A real shame.

Turns out that liver he got in 2009 was a Chinese knockoff.

Gizmodo bought the real liver after it was left in a cooler at the hospital dining hall.

Apple (with the SFPD as backup) isn't a big fan of that whole 4th amendment thing.

Good sources (Dalrymple, AllThingsD) reporting Oct 4 as the iPhone 5 presser.

I knew that Apple was big.  But I didn't know that it had its own police department.  Since a private entity can't violate the Constitution it is a very convenient way of conducting investigations.

One of my co-workers just told me that her 2005 vintage laptop woke up this morning believing that today was March 4, 2005.  Since the garage in which the first Mac was put together was still being used to park cars and store a lawnmower in March of 1969, I suspect that she is the proud owner of a virus.

Her battery signal is very ambiguous.  It tells her that she is at 50% and then changes its mind and goes 0%.

Might could simply use calibrating.

Lots of upgrades to the iphone 4, but same look. For all the iphone 4 users, I'm not sure it's enough to upgrade.
