So I think I've officially decided to join Chad and get the WAR MACHINE HTC Evo phone. Sprint's plans are cheap, so that's the biggest plus.
And if it makes/receives calls it's better than what I have now with my iphone.

And the Hero isn't getting the droid 2.2 update, so they're phasing out that phone (which seems like a cool phone).
Battery life sucks, but I rarely go to places that don't have electricity anymore. And I think you can change a few things to help the crap battery life.

So how's the WAR MACHINE? Which dialing wands are compatible with it?

ATT has started their limited data plans right? The iphone, without unlimited data, is missing the point in my opinion.

How much do you actually use? My last three months of usage were 1GB each month. I am on the internet quite a bit. I was shoutboxing, listening to slacker radio 1-2 hours per day, using the GPS, emailing, and facebook stalking like a motherfucker. And still I wasn't using but half of what their $25 plan offers. They have claimed that 99% of users don't go over 2GB. I am not worried about going over because that would mean I have doubled my internet usage. That's pretty extreme. Plus, at $25/month for 2GB, you're paying $5 less a month. I was told that if I go over, it will charge me an extra $10 and I have another GB to use.. So, if I go over every other month (not likely) then I'm paying what I was paying before. I doubt this limit will hamper most people.

Also, if you have the unlimited iPhone internet now, if you switch to the new iPhone, then they will let you keep it. The stipulation is that if you do switch to the 2GB one, you can't go back.

So, I got a text message from AT&T last night stating that I had used 65% of my internet usage, 14 days through the month. I checked online and it said I've used 1.4GB of the 2.048GB.. My usage has changed in that I'm listening to Internet radio about 6-7 hours of my work day. I guess I'm a part of that 1% that needs more than 2GB? I call shenanigans. Also, any of you know that if I'm using Wi-Fi does that somehow count as my usage? I wouldn't think it does, but you never know.

If you're using Slacker or Pandora, why not just stream through your computer?  Or are all of those sites blocked?

Streaming uses a ton of bandwidth. You probably shouldn't do it on your phone unless you really want to pay for the privilege. But considering how much drywall costs...

If you're using Slacker or Pandora, why not just stream through your computer?  Or are all of those sites blocked?

My work would frown upon me using that much of the bandwidth. We were told a while back to not stream videos/music/etc because they have a T1 line. Seemed like it wasn't sufficient for a building of 150 people, but I may be wrong. However, on Wednesdays, I usually watch that Zero Punctuation (funny video game reviewer) thing that I've linked to a couple times in the Basement and I usually have to buffer it a bit, but yesterday, it didn't need to buffer at all, so I think it's possible I could do it.

I think the best option now would be to dive into the world of downloading music for free (since you can't OWN music, you know). Anyone have any suggestions? I've never done this in a high quantity before.

EDIT: I am looking for something that structures it really well. If I were to have this on my iPhone/Pod I'd want everything in it's correct folders, under the right artist/album. I'm a big stickler about that stuff being perfect and organized. Am I going to be able to get that without a lot of maintenance? Or am I going to have to spend some time renaming shit?

I was messing with AT&Ts data usage calculator and using only 4 hours a day of music streaming (to average it out with weekends where I might not do it), uses over 3GB of usage.. Jeebus. I can cache stations on Slacker, but I'm not sure if it will use the 3G regardless if it needs to or not.
