We really going to relive the shitty years? That's like reliving the time I experienced rectal bleeding.

Which time, 1999? 2004? 2006?
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

The Cubs got rid of Dusty thanks to the craptastic 2006 season, but the team was actually decent to good until the bottom of the 7th on April 19th that year. Damn Eyre and Furcal. If I remember correctly, they even treaded water for a couple weeks after that. But then there was another West Coast trip early in May and that killed them, they scored something like 3 runs in the first 4 games of the trip and never recovered after that.

By the way: Count me shocked that a West Coast road trip killed a Cubs season.

I know that team was s***, but I am convinced that if Lee doesn't get hurt on that f***ing play the Cubs win the division that year since the Cardinals only needed 83 to win it.

Christ, I didn't mean to wreck this thread.

I will now go to the box for two minutes and feel shame.

They were 9-5 when Lee went down. I hardly think 14 games is any indicator that team would have been anywhere near contention. Derrek Lee alone is nowhere near enough to overcome having to use 15 freakin starting pitchers and an offense that was 15th in the NL in runs and dead last in OBP.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

Yeah, but it killed our chemistry, dude!  Can't win without chemistry and appropriately coloured 1st basemen for day games!

Why are we rehashing this shit again?  I've put all these memories right next to the cum dumpster holding all my ex-girlfriends in my mind.

I think this season will mirror 2005. I hope that's true because if it means the Bears will be good I can suffer through a semi-bad Cubs season. I'll just play more golf.

I thought the 2009 season mirrored 2005.

Agreed.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

This sucks too.

QuoteCubs reliever Angel Guzman saw a doctor Thursday and will not be ready to start the regular season, manager Lou Piniella said Friday, P.

Esmailin Caridad will be the right-handed set-up man for now, Piniella said.

Cue KE Photoshop of Amistad ship with a bunch of wretched relief pitchers puking on each other entitled "CARIDAD."

Actually don't.
