So now that we're done discussing the Cubs for at least a year or so, what does Chuck want us to talk about?

OK.  Now, looking at that lineup, do you really think the Cubs can contend with that?  I don't.

And, if that's that the BEST lineup, and the Cubs can't contend with that, does it matter where Theriot hits?

I guess I'm not really seeing your point.  I agree that the lineup isn't very good.  And no, the Cubs probably won't contend.  So does that mean we aren't allowed to discuss the team for the next six months?

"Allowed"?  Sure.  But being disappointed that the Cubs will "spend two months giving tons of at bats to him (in the leadoff spot)" is silly.

They're going to spend 6 months giving a ton of at bats to a lot of players who don't deserve any at bats in any slot in the lineup.

I guess it's like this.  "Theriot will bat leadoff.  So what?"

Cool.

So now that we're done discussing the Cubs for at least a year or so, what does Chuck want us to talk about?

Can we be far from a "Mr. Chuck" thread?
I don't get that KurtEvans photoshop.

In Chuck's defense, over half of Desipio posts are just someone complaining that other
people are discussing something that the poster is some combination of not interested
in, not knowledgeable about, or not mature enough to shut the fuck up and let people
have a conversation.

I think Theriot makes as much sense as anyone for lead off starting the season if Nady
is going to be ready to play the field.  Optimally, it's probably Theriot vs lefties and
Fukudome vs righties, but Lou likes the idea of giving his hitters a solid spot in the
lineup, at least at the start.  I don't see him bouncing Theriot between 1/2 or something
based on the pitcher.

I would guess at something like

#vs RHPvs LHP
1TheriotTheriot
2ByrdByrd
3LeeLee
4RamRam
5FukudomeNady
6SorianoSoriano
7SotoSoto
8FontenotBaker

How is that a defense of Chuck?

I dunno, I probably was going to add something, but instead
I decided to talk about the Cubs because I like baseball and
while I'm concerned about the team I'd much rather be happy
and wait until there's actually something to be a big old grumpy
bitch about.

So, my post which suggests that being big old and grumpy about the Cubs is silly is making you big old and grumpy.

Score!

I'm making myself big by drinking myself to sleep every night but every one of your posts takes about five minutes off my life and that makes me grumpy.

I think Lou has said he'd like to hit Fukudome second already. Other than that, I'm good. I think they're going to hit Byrd 5th.
