I remember when the Cubs put Stairs on their Opening Day Roster in 2001. "He should have retired last year," I muttered to myself. Little did I know his career would outlast Hee Seop Choi's.

My love for Matt Stairs is a little late in coming, but yes, if Chad Tracy=Matt Stairs who plays third base as well, then bonertime all around.

I wasn't trying to imply that Chad Tracy would be the next Matt Stairs. That, my friend, is heresy, pure and simple, and I'll not stand for it. I said Ron Coomer. Perhaps if we're lucky he may be a more versatile Eric Karros, or even a more sure-handed Brant Brown, but he will NEVER be Matt Stairs.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

I'd settle for him being Gary Gaeitti.

1998 or 1999 Gary Gaetti? Cuz I'm not up for a return of the latter. Or Steve Buchele either.

I'd rather not have Willie Greene or Shane Andrews. But this could go on forever. Let's just get it all out of the way real quick so Huey doesn't jump in

Good: Bill Madlock, Ron Cey, 98 Gaetti, 97 Orie, Bill Mueller, 2002 Bellhorn, Keith Moreland, Ryne Sandberg

Not Good: 2003 Bellhorn, Lenny Harris, Jose Hernandez, Ramon Martinez, Chris Stynes, Ron Coomer, Miguel Cairo, Willie Greene, Shane Andrews, Jose Nieves, Jeff Huson, 99 Gaetti, Tyler Houston, Jeff Blauser, Manny Alexander, Cole Liniak, 98 Orie, Dave Hansen, Leo Gomez, Dave Magadan, Todd Zeile, Steve Buechele, Howard Johnson, Jose Vizcaino, Luis Salazar, Gary Scott, Doug Strange, Chico Walker, Domingo Ramos, Curtis Wilkerson, Vance Law, Manny Trillo, Wade Rowdon, Davey Lopes, Chris Speier, Richie Hebner, Pat Tabler, Ken Reitz, Ty Waller, Hector Cruz, Len Randle, Steve Dillard, Steve Ontiveros, Mick Kelleher, Rodney Scott, Davey Johnson, Dave Rosello, Rob Sperring, Carmen Fanzone, or Matt Alexander.

I want Chad Tracy to be like Aramis Ramirez, just cool with playing only occasionally, and not into cockfighting, and cool with a salary of a journeyman.

I thought Ron Kittle was the best softball player ever?

Probably the best 16" softballer who played MLB was Kevin Hickey who, legend has it, was scouted in the Chicago parks and of course Bill Veeck was crazy enough to sign him.  Had a decent career, too.  I mean, for softball player.
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

I'm willing to bet I was the only watching Chicago Tribune Live this afternoon (maybe Dolan was) so I'll explain. They had Chuck Garfein interview the recently departed Kevin Millar. Essentially, Garfein fawned over him like a pre-teen girl would fawn over someone that wasn't a pudwhack. Then they had a discussion involving KC Johnson (who I like), Teddy Greensti and David Schuster (who I hate with the passion of three billion Theriots) where the basic agreement was that Millar was the obvious choice over Fuld, Tracy and Kittle II because of his quotability and of course because he helped break a curse in Boston. Yes, those are the reasons you keep a baseball player.

These people are paid to write and talk about sports.

I feel like I'm living in a world of retarded people.
