I'm just hoping the Cubs resist the temptation to call him up to rescue the bullpen and keep him starting in the minors where he belongs until September at least. He looks outstanding. 0.63 WHIP. Jay Jackson at Iowa is another starter in the minors with #1 stuff. Casey Coleman at Iowa has good #s but he has #3 stuff at best. Either way, between Wells and those two they have enough starting pitching prospects that they will hopefully consider trading one or two of the veteran starters if when they're sucking ass at the all-star break.

I wouldn't argue trading Z. I think he's still young enough to be effective for a few more years and with his no-trade he'd probably be more difficult to move. Dempster would make the most sense. His deal isn't terribly unreasonable and I'm sure a team would be desperate enough to pay well for him. Lilly could also be moveable. It's just something to think about. Chances are Jim will trade Cashner for Matt Lawton or something anyways because the Cubs are only 7 1/2 games out of the WC lead at the break.
