That Hideous Toyota Sign
« on: March 22, 2010, 01:18:12 PM »
Will Leitch wrote a decent article about the 2010 season and the Cubs.  He admits his Cardinal fetish, but gives Cub fans credit as not necessarily all frat boys.

Now.  About that Toyota sign.  What the hell is that logo, anyway?  A cowboy?  A longhorn steer?  A devil?  Absolutely nothing?  It is hauntingly ugly, whatever it is.

QuoteThe current Toyota Mark consists of three ovals: the two perpendicular center ovals represent a relationship of mutual trust between the customer and Toyota. These ovals combine to symbolize the letter "T" for Toyota. The space in the background implies a global expansion of Toyota's technology and unlimited potential for the future.

Will Leitch looks like a child molester.

Damn!  Build a magnificent bridge.  Does anyone call you a great bridge builder?  Bring peace to the Middel East.  Does anyone call you a great peace maker?  But molest one child...?

Will Leitch wrote  a decent an historically inaccurate article about the 2010 season and the Cubs.

Wha, wha whaaaaa?

QuoteThis coincides, of course, with the most successful era in Cubs history. The Cubs' inability to win a World Series, suffice it to say, has been well-documented, but otherwise, the last decade was their best ever.

While Bowlhead mystifyingly makes mention of the 1930's era Cubs team without also realziing that the quoted sentences would be rendered incorrect upon closer examination of these  Bill Veeck Sr.-built teams, this ninny would have only needed to go back 3 more decades to find not only the most successful Cubs era in franchise history, but the most successful 1, 2 and 3 year stretch of any major-league club.  In history.  I refer, of course, to the 1906-1908 Cubs, whose regular season success during this stretch has been literally unparalelled.

If bloggers are going to replicate the same kind misinformation and willfull ignorance foisted upon the public by 95% of the mainstream journalists, then why would they be considered much of an alternative to said mainstream hacks?
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

What?

QuoteThe company website states that name "stems from Ahura Mazda, the highest Zoroastrian God of reason who granted wisdom and united man, nature and the other gods."

QuoteYah says he prefers to talk to non-believers, since he did not create religion (other than Zoroastrianism as a practical joke), and says that Bonanza is more accurate as historical fiction than any religious text.
