QuoteCHICAGO -- Cubs infielder Ryan Theriot will do his part to help his native Gulf Coast on Tuesday by hosting a "Mystery Ball."
For $20, fans can purchase a ball autographed by one of the current Cubs players, manager Lou Piniella or Hall of Famer Ernie Banks. Proceeds will benefit the National Wildlife Federation in support of its Gulf Coast relief efforts.

Sales will take place in front of the Wrigley Field gates, so even if you don't have a ticket, you can purchase a "Mystery Ball" or make a contribution. More than 1,000 baseballs will be sold.

Even selling Mystery Balls for $20 is streets ahead of the annual BCB t-shirt "fundraiser", unless Theriot is keeping $18 of every ball sold.

I just picture Chuck going there and dropping 20 after 20 and saying "damn it! ANOTHER Soriano!"

I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

Yeah.  And to make it worse, each Soriano ball I grabbed clinked off my hands and fell on the ground.

I was hopping mad, I tell you...

No I could picture at Wrigley Field with Murton's first born bumping into someone selling baseballs. After learning that Theriot was behind this effort, Brandon would chime in:

"Really? Theriot? Don't you guys want to HELP the people on the Gulf?"

Brandon's gonna be so proud.

He's famous on Desipio.

I'd rather have front row tickets to a Paul Tanner spoken-word poetry slam at the Star Theater in Merrillville. Seriously.

Does anyone have 4 tickets to the 9/4 game against New York and would rather watch college football and doesn't know anyone else that would want to go to Wrigley that day? A friend of mine is going to be in town and wants to take his kids to the game. He can buy face value seats or he can play the scalper game, but if any of you have 4 tickets you'd part with, let me know so I can help him.

1)  Wished you had asked me a week ago, as I just unloaded mine for face to a co-worker.

2) The secondary market may turn out to be a buyer's market anyway if your friend's savvy enough to head down and buy on the street.  These assholes suck so bad that I imagine they're putting the hurt on street scalpers this time of year.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.
