It's Joe Maddon you stupid dicks.

There is another room for us to discuss stupid dicks.

The Nixonland thread?

You take that back!

Great man, Nixon was.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I'm reading kugel recipes now. I should be working but I'm doing this instead.

Every single one is raisin this, cinnamon that - come on. That's disgusting. If I could make a kugel I wouldn't use anything sweet and I'd top it off with those fried onions in a can because that's what classy people do.

Someone get me my robe.

Fucking sweet kugel.

Forget that stuff.

Noodles, eggs, sauteed onions, maybe some sauteed peppers too if you want to really bring down the house.
Add in lots of salt and pepper, though as a nod to IAN, I do love throwing in some Tony C's instead of salt.

Stir, fry, enjoy.

Now that the season is over and Piniella has abdicated, the popular outcry is that Sandberg becomes the new field manager.  I wonder if that is the best that the Cubs can do?  Don't get me wrong.  For years I was a major fan of Sandberg, the player.  But it is going to take more than nostalgia to get me to accept that this guy who couldn't put together a coherent sentence of more that six words is the answer that we are looking for.  And don't offer Casey Stengel as the example of an idiot savant who could turn out consistent World Series winners.  My mother-in-law, may she rest in peace knew nothing about baseball, but she could have managed all of those Yankee teams to World Series victories, even if all she did was to stay in her kitchen and bake noodle kugels.

I never liked kugel.

Well, then you're an asshole.

Unless you've only had that horrid sweet one with raisins, because that kind should be condemned to an eternity being ordered around by octogenarian Jewish women complaining that "it's too cold in here" even though the thermostat is set at 82.

Oh, and I vote Brenly.

Joe Girardi!

No wait, we shouldn't want Girardi because he couldn't get along with that fucktard owner in Florida.  Clearly the guy is unstable and can't work well with difficult personalities and will never win a World Series.

Right Chuck?

/never forget

Tangentially speaking of ex-Florida managers, did Fredi Gonzalez get fired solely because of the batting-out-of-order snafu the other day?  I don't follow the Marlins very closely, but he seems to get a pretty good performance out of that team.  I'm catching up from the last few days, so there might already be a thread on this.  But I thought of it now, so listen to me, dammit.

He also tried getting Hanley Ramirez to hustle. Bad idea.

From what I've seen of the man, I'd take Fredi Gonzalez next year.

You can have Fredi.  He's worthless without Adrian Gonzalez and a few other guys like him.

And you'd somehow end up hating Adrian Gonzalez, too.

That's ignorant. Anyone can coach a team of good players to win. A great manager can take a team of shit and managing them to win.
That's what the cubs need.

I can't tell if you're being serious- but I am curious to see what teams of shit have made the playoffs in the last 120 years.

If the World Series had actually happened in 2006, I would nominate the World Series winners from that year.  Good thing it was canceled due to lack of interest.

I was kidding. But how about the 2005 and 2006 Padres.

Teams of shit that won the World Series? Here are a few:
1985 Royals
1987 Twins
1988 Dodgers
1990 Reds

So the Cubs need Dick Howser, Tom Kelly, Tommy Lasorda or the guy who managed the Reds. I wish they had one of those guys.

I have no idea what hiring Fredi Gonzalez has to do with signing Adrian Gonzalez.  Are they father-son?
