It's not looking good for Jake Peavy.

Peavy, who said the surgery would be performed Wednesday at Rush Presbyterian hospital in Chicago, vowed to pitch again.

"I hope to be up and throwing by spring training," Peavy said. "My future is not in jeopardy."

Nothing that few major-league pitchers have sustained this kind of injury, Peavy said,  "It's kind of uncharted territory. ... I guess I'm a guinea pig."

Hey it was only yesterday (4 years ago in 13 days) that he was no-hitting the Mets. Of course, he lasted only 5 2/3 because his fingers were tired.
