Funny thing is, Scott was pretty solid last night, pummeling notwithstanding. I've seen worse 4th liners.

He looked especially talented when he dropped his stick in the midst of trying to help out in the neutral zone (assuming trying to skate and use his stick at the same time was too much for him) and once the play chased back into the zone he skated, still stickless, after a Kings player and shoved him with two hands well off the play before heading back to the bench.

That's hockey!

Hey, I like John Scott for what he is - ideally he's a 7th defenseman who dresses when we play a team with a guy that needs to be fed a fist. As a 4th line winger? Pass pass pass. I know you agree so I don't really know why I'm even typing this out. The keyboard feels good today. Maybe that's why. Am I still typing?

Right around the time his iPod started playing the "Glee" version of "Don't Stop Believin'".

I must say...when these Hawks play great defense, it is a thing of beauty to watch.

The forwards have started taking backchecking more seriously. I expect if Ryan Johnson's feet hold up, there will be some boners popping up.

That was a wonderful pick up. He said in an interview that he's a gym rat and endurance isn't his issue, just getting back into the flow of an NHL game was.

Seriously - awesome pick up.

Hawks get four wins out of five games on the homestand (3 of those against divisional opponents).  Marty Turco actually looks good when the team plays a little defense in front of him.

And you know how I know Marian Hossa is great?  Because he's able to make Tomas Kopecky useful.

He wanted to demonstrate his multi-versatility so he can stay in the lineup when Kane comes back.

That was amusing. I think a Jacket player said something because he was looking over his shoulder as the teams skated back to their goalies after the horn. Would have been fun to see him pound someone's face into a jelly.

Oh well - this team is finally playing the defense they need to play and it's a joy to watch. Everyone's getting on board. They still need to rack up a bunch more in order to keep up with everyone. The rest of the conference has a couple of games in hand and less losses than the Hawks it seems.

Even if you look at points per games played they're actually still in the money at this point...
