I'm sure there's plenty of more wrongness in your post, but this calls out like a lighthouse in a storm.

Final Rankings, Total Defense (2009)
Alabama
Nebraska
Florida
Penn St.
Ohio St.
TCU
Oklahoma
Texas
Air Force
Iowa

Of the 10 teams listed above, 8 of them were in the final AP top 25, including 7 of the top 10 and the National Champion.
The two not in the top 25, Oklahoma and Air Force, were both in the "others receiving votes"

Final Rankings, Total Offense (2009)
Boise St.
Houston
TCU
Texas
Nevada
Cincinnati
Oregon
Arkansas
Texas Tech
Stanford

Of the 10 teams listed above, 6 of them were in the final AP top 25, including 4 of the top 10.
Of the 4 not in the top 25, only one (Arkansas) was in the "others receiving votes".
[/quote]

If you look at the lists, it's good to be a defense in conferences with no top offenses...and it's good to be an offense outside of the SEC, Big Ten, and largely, the Big 12.  Could it be that the causality runs such that the good defenses in the SEC and Big Ten depress offensive stats enough?  Or could it be that those defenses are playing some pretty shitty offenses?  It probably runs both ways.

But to refine my point--if you want to compete against the teams on the top defenses list, matching their defenses isn't going to be the answer.  Going about things the Boise St. way and stacking up on offense is.  If you aren't an elite program, trying to build a stifling defense isn't the answer--coming up with an offense that can score a ton is your best path to the top.
Those Cardinals aren't red, they're yellow.  Like the Spanish!

Well, as long as we're talking 2010 College Football...

New Richmond QB and former USC Trojan Aaron Corp, said Richmond's level of play was comparable to U.S.C.'s.

The thought of this douchecaboose riding a scooter around our small, serene wooded campus makes me want to go punch Matt Leinart.

By all means, please do.

Who really needs a reason to punch Matt Leinart?

His mom.

Now available as a punching bag for birthdays and bar mitzvahs.

Quality work by the Big 10 crew tonight. Never seen a block in the back waved off before.

All the time. Never seen that before. Especially on one like that.

I actually saw one Friday night. However, from what I recall of that play tonight, the guy fell on his ass. And last time I checked, when you get pushed in the back, you don't fall on your ass. Now, this might be something new where that happens, in which case, this world is passing me by. I recall hands being on the guy's side, which does happen to be legal

James Madison should be ranked:

James Madison received 11 points in this week's poll, landing on the ballots of two voters -- Ray Ratto of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area in California and Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.

Yeah that happened with Appalachian State after they beat Michigan. It's a political statement against polling, or some ghey shit like that. I will throw this out there to appease people: Iowa has a really good football team, and with the shifting balance of power in the college world, they may actually deserve to go to a title game if undefeated.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

If Iowa goes undefeated beating Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State, they will be in the BCS title game.

That said, my point was to point out who voted for James Madison.

I know that was your point. I didn't think you were agitating. I was just going to throw that out there anyway. Given the fact that I didn't and still don't feel that they deserved it last year. But this year, yes.
