Blake DeWitt... He of the .779 Minor League OPS and the .726 Major League OPS!!!!!! SSSSSSSUUUUUUPPPPPLLLOOOOOOOOOOGGGGGGGGEEEEEEuh!

He's a second baseman.  If he can sit around .750 (which isn't a given, I understand) for a few years while making around the league minimum, that'd be really useful.

You're crazy.  This is the perfect position for Adam Dunn.

Wrong.  ANYWHERE is the perfect position for Adam Dunn.  I've been thinking the Cubs should sign him as a pitcher, because think of the VORP of his bat shoved into the 9-hole.

Beat me to it.  I'm too lazy to find where DeWitt ranks among Major League 2B, but I'd venture to guess right around the middle.  Not everybody is Chase Utley and the Cubs sure as shit weren't getting one for Theriot and Lilly.

It would also deny me the pleasure of viewing Slaky's avatar.

As recently as two years ago, Baseball America said he should develop 15-20 home run power and hit .280-.290 eventually. He turns 25 later this month, so I'll hold out hope. Because that's what Cubs fans do. That and drink excessively and cuss a lot.

Plus he was signed by Mitch Webster. So there's that.

Bump for actually being in a Web Gem/Top Play segment on ESPN/MLB Network.  I can't remember the last Cub I've seen in a Top Plays segment.  Also, since coming over, .304 .364 .456 .819 112 isn't too shabby.  .456 SLG is way above his career average.  I know he's no Chay Sutley, but DeWitt's not hatable yet.

Just curious--does anybody here besides IAN actually still watch ESPN, for anything other than live sporting events?
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

It's on at the gym with the sound off.  Sometimes I glance because on occasion they show sports taking place.

I do as I'm getting ready for work. That's about it. And I'm pretty sure I've seen Byrd in there quite a bit this year, Top Plays that is.
