Haven't had any real issues  myself other than Bailey being stuck in the ceiling in the Vikki and Vance Casino when I was questioning him about my assailants. It was more funny than annoying.

Other than that this game is incredible. I'm getting a serious feeling of dread as I'm slowly making my way across the South Central portion of the map to reach Novac. After passing through Nipton which was left in smoldering remains featuring in-progress crucifications, I made my way to the Mojave Outpost to warn them of the Legion's Death Spree and then headed East to Novac. Passed through Hidden Valley which contained four of five bunkers and a few bark scorpion nests. The bark scorpions are easy to kill but when they get you it causes hallucinations. I only managed to check out a couple of bunkers as I figured I'd come back later. I really wanted to get this mission done.

Kept on my way through the valleys and while trying to figure out how to traverse the rocks and brush. Of course when I chose to go right at a fork in the trail I ran smack into a Giant Radscorpion Now With Impenetrable Armor. I decided to dynamite it and myself and start back at my save. Really not sure how the hell I'm going to get past this thing. I'm thinking lure it close and then scurry up a rock and blast away from on high. Anyone got any early game success stories with the big, black Radscorps? I killed one outside of Nipton with dynamite but I'm really not sure how.

Playing on Hardcore makes this game so much better. Knowing you can't just run at anything with your guns blazing because if you cripple a limb you've gotta use your Doctor Bag or see a specialist adds a dimension I only had in Fallout 3 at the early stage when Stimpaks were scarce. I'm sure I'll turn into an Angel of Death at some point but I'll still have to keep hydrated, fed and well slept to stay sharp. Love it.

I can't wait to see what DLC they're going to launch for this.

I avoid the black radscorps. Even in my progressed non-hardcore game. Also, you'll definitely want to hit up that bunkered area. Soon enough, you'll found out why. It's nothing shocking but it's just some place you'll want to be. And getting further evidence of how much of a pussy I am is leading me to start a hardcore game tonight or tomorrow.

I haven't gotten far from the compound. Not far at all. So I'll turn back and check the whole thing out when I resume. I don't have enough to get past hard locked doors yet though so I may be missing out on some stuff.

How well did you fare in the first fight? The one with the Powder Gang? I didn't do all that well and I was on normal non-hardcore. Did you get others to help you in the fight?

At the NCRCF? Or somewhere else? I've encountered a bunch of small groups of Powder Gangers and Jackals and conquered them all. The first few times I took on the Jackals at the Nipton Rest Stop I had to consider my approach and paid with my life. But eventually I figured it out and used a combo of dynamite and my Weathered 10mm pistol.

The initial one at Goodsprings.

I murdered that guy with ease. I feel like in New Vegas you're much more powerful out of the gate than you were in Fallout 3. I remember feeling helpless in F3 for quite some time.

So, anyway... I've mopped up the Powdergangers in Goodsprings, and headed down to Primm to talk to the shipping agent bloke as directed.  Had a chat with the NCR guys outside the town, and then headed in - and *every* cunt is shooting at me.  Doesn't matter what I'm wearing, what I'm carrying, how I go in - the World and his wife has a pop as soon as they set eyes on me.  It's really, really pissing me off.

Any ideas?

That's weird, I did the same as you. Killed Powder Gangers, who are all assholes and should die - and went straight to Primm after Goodsprings. You did all the Goodsprings missions then - even the one with the guy holed up in the gas station?

Yep, even that one.  Then robbed the corpses of the Powder Gangers we'd killed, and walked straight down to Primm.  The cops there don't have a problem with me - I stood around and shot the shit with them for a while - but the minute I set foot inside the town limits, all hell breaks loose.  Sometimes they don't even wait that long - they're shooting at me over the fence.  I'm not nearly powerful enough to take them on, so I'm fucked until I can figure out what I'm doing to offend them so badly.

Well there are like 3-4 bad guys in the town. Just patrolling it. In the casino or whatever it was, they should be cool with you. Basically, you're supposed to restore order to the town. Killing the fuckers walking around outside will do it. Then you need to appoint someone the sheriff or something.

I know this has probably been asked and answered already, but I'm considering buying Fallout 3 and this.  I never really played any of the other games, but I have played the Oblivion series.

Anyone here who has played the two and if so, are they comparable?  Would I like Fallout 3 considering my appreciation of Oblivion?

I'll hang up and listen to my answer.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

When people are shooting at you, just fucking kill them. There's no reason not to. People will forgive you. If these people are in a gang or are Fiends, fuck their asses up. It might take a few tries but it's worth it. Then, as Yeti said, you will meet everyone in the Vikki and Vance Casino and help them get a new sheriff. How you go about that is up to you. Also, the NCR is camped right outside - try talking to them. I remember now - you definitely have to kill some motherfuckers before getting into Primm. That's the deal.
