Bumped not just for Cutler's 3 TDs today, but also because I'm reminded of this:

What the hell?  Do I have to sue someone for absconding with my Shoutbox?  And by "my" I mean, I'm ranked 44th in the number of posts on it.

I'm not sure you can sue for that.

But I'm not sure, everything I learned about law came from this.

In other words, nothing at all.

What's your post about?

You are the worst.

He's got a point.

He could have saved himself a lot of time by just saying that in the first place.

I liked his way.

I think the key gloss here is that Bad Kermit's legal counsel is now unself-employed.

Ok. So SKO talked me out of my ANGER. There isn't that much of a difference between them. I'm just defensive of Rex still getting ripped on these days. He's gone. He's a backup for a QB who can't run the 2 minute drill. Let it be.

I used to defend Rex like I defend Jeigh. But I recently watched a couple of games from 2006 and have concluded that Rex was mediocre at best and in no way shape or form a championship-caliber passer. Yes, I've decided this in November of 2010. Close the book on that one. He wasn't the worst QB on the planet like the meatheads said but he was no Erik Kramer either.

That Keith Traylor video let me to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_B_yKbNSX0

Now, outside of the hilarious and slightly homo intro by the forlorn Rexy fan, I watched alot of those highlights and noticed how my optimism had really blinded me to a lot of the flaws in Rex's game back then. Hell, first of all look at the pockets that guy had to work with. Put Jay behind that 2006 line and he throws 44 TDs and they award the Bears two superbowls just for style points. But just watch his first pass in the video and you can see him having to practically slingshot his entire body forward in order to get the ball out. The guy threw a decent deep ball (which isn't always an indicator of great arm strength) to mostly wide open receivers.

One of the differences between Jay and Rex is how they both throw off their back foot and get different results. Jay actually has the arm strength to complete passes off of his back foot, and I've counted probably 15-20 times this year where he's done so. Last year I remember him throwing two great back-foot deep balls  for TDs to Knox in the game against the Falcons and the first game against the Vikings. While everyone screams at him when he throws off his back foot, really there's a difference between throwing off of your back foot and throwing while falling backwards. That's where Jay has trouble, as do most QBs. If you've got Jay's arm you can throw a decent ball as long as your body is either standing up or going forward, but no one can really throw that well falling away from the ball. Rex didn't even have the arm strength to throw off of his back foot at all, and was thus completely worthless when the pocket collapsed. I think if you watch the Eagles game over again and watch Cutler's 2nd TD to Bennett where he looked left and then came back and managed to throw it to the outside on the right and lead Bennett enough to get him into the end zone, that's a throw Jay can make and Rex never could have. The ball just died on him when he tried to zip it to the sideline at that angle. No one asked for this digression, but I gave it nonetheless.

Bumped for (Lions or no Lions) 80.8% completions and a 117 rating. Last 13 starts for Jay: 10-3, 243/389 (62.5%), 3094 YDs, 25 TDs, 11 INTs, 8.0 YPA, 238 YPG, 97.0 Rating.

Also, here's an article about Cutler that adds up to one giant backhanded compliment that Pen would be proud of http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/20475/no-disputing-now-jay-cutler-is-a-winner

Look at the totally bogus example he uses to trash Cutler:

Quote
Cutler is smart but not particularly introspective in public settings, so I didn't think he would have an emotional breakdown while addressing the issue. But for some reason he made me think of a story about former NBA player Christian Laettner, whose boorish personality could be compared to Cutler's in his worst moments.

Laettner was particularly frustrated with a stretch of games while playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. During a postgame interview session, he began pointing to the lockers of each teammate.

"Loser," he said about the first one.

"Loser," he said about the second, and so on, until he reached his own locker.

"Winner," Laettner said, espousing his career as a college player at Duke.

It was the kind of outburst I could imagine once coming from Cutler, based on what I observed of him as recently as last season.

Find me one god damn example of Cutler ever trashing a teammate in any way even resembling that. Ridiculous.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015
