What the fuck is this now? So anyone planning on altering their commute? I'm on this thing for just 8 minutes each day but if the fucking Metra is the reason I kick it when I'm 45 I'd be pissed. You know, if I wasn't dead in this fictional scenario.

I assume the pollution comes from the toilets on the train, which are the single most disgusting specimens in the history of human beings.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Honesty compels me to admit that this morning when they canceled my train (after being 25 minutes late yesterday), that I thought of this and drove instead of waiting to pile into the local cattle car.

As if living in the suburbs didn't suck enough already.

I was wondering the same thing. And what are the deaths from? And how can they be linked to just diesel exhaust? I'm confused.

Put Todd Ricketts on it.

You really want to put Todd Ricketts in charge of a railroad?

I'm on it for over 2 hours every day and I've made it past 45 Slak.

I'm wondering what the health effects of sitting in stop and go on the Kennedy every day for a couple of decades are in comparison.
Both physically and mentally.

I think I'll stick with the train which also has the benefit of the occasional hot suburban MILF to stare at.
(At least until I fall asleep, usually snoring loudly. It's always great to wake up and realize your fellow passengers have moved to seats further away from you.)

I think the Tribune study compared the soot to the air pollution aon the Kennedy at the Edens split. A winner was the expressway.

Except for the wanting to commit suicide / kill someone aspect of driving.

Holy shit, that's nothing.

Anyone ever have to wait 15 minutes for a red line in one of the underground stops?  Talk about a cess pool of air.

Essentially living/working in the city equals bad air. So why is this such a big deal? Hell a barge just rolled down the Chicago River leaving a thick cloud of smog and pollution that made the area look like we were in a Scottish loch at sun up. So what are the adverse effects of breathing in that shit? Probably many.

In other words, I need not change my travel plans.

You ever ride the Red Line after 9 PM, City Boy?  The noxious combination of urine and insanity can do an equally good number on men's souls.

Yup. You need to sit in the Hobo Seat to get the full experience though. I'm still cleaning the afterbirth off my shoes from my latest journey.
