There was something retarded about the offensive gameplan. I'm not smart enough to know what exactly, but I think they ran the same shit just about the entire game. The defense played great and anybody who has fault with the secondary play is a fat boob. They got beat deep once. Oh. Noez.

Not sure, they didn't use the shotgun very much so maybe they were just not wanting to show their plays out of the gun. However, they did show that fake pass right, crossing pattern left to Davis play in the red zone. That was a play I don't think the Bears have run this year.

Which is fine if he's saving something (which he's not because that makes no sense) but then why did the starters play the whole time? Something doesn't add up. It's like the gameplan was to look really bad.

Here's how things would shake out, if:

Packers and Ramhawks win, Bears play: Ramhawks
Packers and Saints win, Bears play: Saints
Eagles and Ramhawks win, Bears play: Eagles
Eagles and Saints win, Bears play: Eagles

Which is fine if he's saving something (which he's not because that makes no sense) but then why did the starters play the whole time? Something doesn't add up. It's like the gameplan was to look really bad.

As B.C. noted there weren't many plays from the gun, even in situations which warranted. There were almost no plays, in which Cutler rolled out and moved the pocket either. This is where the Bears' offense has found success recently. I don't know if it was the Packers who denied Cutler the opportunity to do this or Martz or both. But we saw a bunch of drop backs and the line not picking up the pressure, backs and TE's not picking up the blitz. It looked eerily familiar to the pre-Bye Bears that had us all in the fetal position pining for Bill Cowher to save our city.

It seems to me, and my non-football knowing ass, that Martz was installing his old, failed gameplan and trying it again just to see if parts of it might actually work. In a game the Bears had to win, he wouldn't have the oppolrtunity to do that. Maybe the defense did similar things they wouldn't do ordinarily. I really didn't notice a lot of blitzing going on. The pressure on Rodgers came primarily from the front four - sacks were of the coverage variety etc.

I hope somebody who knows something about Bears football (ie: Mike Martz, Lovie Smith, Mike Tice et al.) learned some important shit from yesterday's game. This is why you beat Detroit, and Miami, and Minnesota and Buffalo and Carolina when you are invited to do so. It leads to free practice time.

They do and will. I also think the Saints will be back for more sloshing around in the muck and I like the Bears chances against them at home.
