He saved us from getting swept out of the Series in four games, which would have been far worse than losing the playoffs in seven games.

So says the maroon who saw the Cubs win a pennant during his lifetime.

Two pennants (But who is counting?).  I admit it.  I think that finishing fifth is better than finishing one game out in second place.

You really miss Emil Verban and Dee Fondy, don't you?

We expected big things from Fondy.  Verban not so much.

Emil was just breaking in a new glove.

You still holding out hope for Bob Speake?

I hear Roy Smalley's got a cannon for an arm.

Intrepid Reader: Crabs: "We get it, you're all old and know the names of ex-Cubs."

What does being old have to do with it?

Ask Crabs.  In the meantime, let's talk about players who aren't on the current team anymore and won't factor into this year's team.

Any word on Mordecai's curveball this spring?  How have the Cubs looked out on Catalina Island?

My aren't we surly?

Sounds like someone can use a cigarette.

Oh, I'm fine.  But what of Andy Pafko?
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

No you're not. You crave a nice fat smokie treat. You long to step outside for a break and fag it up real good for about 5 minutes and come back in smelling like sweet, sweet tar. Yummy.

The Mets just released Luis Castillo.

You're now standing in the shadow of Jim Hendry's boner.

In the Mets defense, they are spectacularly loaded at 2nd base - Luis Hernandez, Daniel Murphy, Justin Turner and Brad Emaus.

How in the world did Jim Hendry allow another team to be more stacked at 2B than the Cubs are?!?!?

And here we go: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/03/luis-castillo-rumors-friday.html

They're probably just planning to sign Castillo so they can blow him up at Harry Caray's bar the night before the opener. I say right that wrong, Jim.

I'm not really that upset about it unless Kwade has Lou's inexplicable need to start Koyie at least twice a week. Geovany is looking as svelte as he's ever looked. Maybe start the guy who was the best offensive catcher in baseball as often as possible.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

You're not really that butthurt that a dude who is tearing up the Cactus League might get sent down? Your supposed to be butthurt about this. It's March.
