This organization is the best.

"Cubs outfield prospect Matt Szczur's new contract triggered a provision that makes him eligible for the major league Rule 5 draft new November if he's not put on the 40-man roster, according to a Baseball America report."

Samardzija's contract is the best money the Cubs have ever spent, so why not double down with another wide receiver?  Win-win, really.

When did Matt Millen sneak into the draft room?

Cashner to the rotation, Silva to the...?

Retract.

This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

My network is almost as good as Joel Sherman's.

Anonymous executive from another team, indeed.  What a maroon.

Well, Szczur has actually shown some evidence that he might be good at baseball, which is more than Samardzija ever did.

To be fair Snork did have a decent three-week run during August of 2008. And if we look hard enough (||) in Ratto's belly, we might find definitely a few boners from people who look and sound like us. Sad but true.

If you are a baseball player and you can't make this piece of crap team, then you should quit. And then shoot yourself five minutes after quitting. That or get really drunk.

So Gordo is wrong as usual. Silva cut. Cashner to the rotation.

Winner: everyone.

Sounds like Cubs camp is no longer the happy-fun-time place Phil Rogers made it out to be.

http://eye-on-baseball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22297882/28092353

QuoteSoon-to-be-former Cub Carlos Silva said there's "no chance" he'll go to Triple-A Iowa, as the Cubs have asked him to do if the team is unable to work out a trade.

"No chance," Silva told reporters (via MLB.com's Carrie Muskat). "That's not in my mind right now, not at all. I'm not an insurance player. My guess is that's what they want."

Silva also took a shot at new Cubs pitching coach Mark Riggins, saying Riggins was "not straight" with him about the team's plans. Silva said he had a workout on Friday with Riggins, who was positive about the results, and "an hour later" the pitching coach told him the team's plans.

"I'm like, if you have to say something, be straight," Silva said. "He has to learn he's in the big leagues now, know what I mean? There's no kids around here anymore. The way he laid it out, I don't know what he was trying to do."
