So Gordo is wrong as usual. Silva cut. Cashner to the rotation.

Winner: everyone.

Update: CT was wrong

Well, if had to happen once, I'm glad it was this.

Hey, man if happens. You'll bounce back.

If what happens?
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

Let's get back to what's important: no way should Robert Redford be throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day.

Really? Especially after he broke the freaking clock?

Redford shouldn't be throwing out the first pitch. He should be getting the first pitch right in the ribs.

Another Cubs can't-miss pitching prospect bites the dust and winds up making a comeback elsewhere.

Is it normal for a pitching coach to handle letting players know of personnel decisions? Maybe Jimbo was afraid of hurting his eating buddy.

I guess it's not like Hard Knocks where they have some pudwhack in Zubaz and a team polo call the player into his office to deliver the bad news.

If I were Hendry, I'd have had Ronnie Woo Woo break the news to that fat sack of shit. Not to let Hendry off the hook for the series of events that led to Silva being a Cub and soon-to-be-ex-Cub in the first place. Hendry should have to eat lunch with Ronnie at least once a week until one of them dies.

So the Cubs have Castillo and Max Ramirez on the roster as well as Silva. 27 men. Two have to go. Silva and? Why would they have three catchers?

They've only got 4 outfielders and the fifth is my guy Nando P.

No offense to my buddy, but that outfield depth is atrocious. If one or two guys get hurt the Cubs are in deep caca.

EDIT: Silva released this morning. So now what to do with all those catchers.

Trade one for an outfielder?

So Reed is the 5th guy. And your point is valid: If one or two of the outfielders get hurt, the Cubs are hosed. However, there aren't too many teams that I know of that could lose one or two starting outfielders and not feel the effects. But other than Marlon, and I guess Soriano, all the other Cub outfielders are basically replacement player level or below. If Colvin or Fukudome or Fareed or Nando were to injure themselves, how big is the dropoff to the next Murton on the depth chart in Des Moines. Here's hoping we don't ever need to find out. If we do because of an injury to Byrd or Fonz, the season could become fun-bad in an awful hurry.

Still, I'm very upbeat about the Cubs chances because of their pitching depth. They will trot out quality starters every day and the bullpen has studs in the back and competence (I hope) in the middle. So... Career Years for Everyone! in that lineup and Mike Quade will become the hairless Ditka of baseball. I'm all for that.

Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

And here I thought Micah Hoffpower was the next Jason Dubois.
