I said the same thing in teh Slack the day it was happening. It was humorous, in a way, but we should be aware of how it looks on the outside. And on the outside, it was a bad look.

Last time I checked it was not illegal to vote Republican, (not that I would, or ever have).  From my experience most professional athletes are conservative and are in the higher tax brackets.  So it follows that they identify with politicians on the right (not in the sense of correct) side of the political spectrum.  I don't admire them because of their political acumen, but rather for their athletic ability.

For what it's worth, much like most of what Trueblood and those guys usually say, it's not that they are asking completely stupid questions. "Is this the best Cubs roster ever assembled?" is a fair question, you can look at preseason projections and depth charts for past Cubs teams and say why this is, on paper, the best they've put together. It's a fair thought exercise. The way they say these things is just so irritating.

I mean in this case they used a clickbait headline, got called out for it, and reacted with butthurt. In other cases they take a perfectly defensible argument (Cubs should not extend Arrieta, for example) and just talk about it in a way that's so off-putting or condescending it immediately ends all conversation and makes you want to stuff them in lockers (Trueblood responding to said discussion of not extending Arrieta with "if the Cubs are having any significant discussions about Arrieta this offseason I hope it's gauging his trade value not extending him").

Stop thinking you're the smartest guys in the room, please, or at least stop being so defensive when people say you aren't.
