Ok, now try 1971-1990

http://www.sporcle.com/games/lineupquizzes/Cubs2

I will, but only to see how well I do between 1980 and 1990.  I've no chance prior to that.

Between 1972-1982 I got Bill Madlock, Len Randle, and Ivan DeJesus. I don't know any of those other names from the 70s. I can only assume they were really, really bad.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

I got 163 out f 180, including every single Opening Day starting pitcher.  Between 1979 and 1990 the only 2 I missed were Ken Henderson in right field in 1980 and--believe it or not--Rafael Palmeiro in left field in 1988.  Brainfart on the latter...how I came up with Dave Martinez but not Palmeiro is beyond me.

Also, I have a sad existence.

How the hell did you get Lenny Randle?  He was here 1 year, batted leadoff the one year DeJesus didn't, and then left.

You mean Steve Henderson? How can you forget him? Have you ever sniffed a terrible odor so bad that it nearly caused you to gag? When my wife and I were searching for a house, we looked at a foreclosure, that smelled so foul I had to go outside and throw up. I'll NEVER forget that smell.

I'll never forget Steve Henderson either.

No, I meant Ken Henderson.  Steve actually came to mind kind of late...the vacancy for Opening Day Leftfielder in 1982 at Riverfront was the only one for minutes...it was actually taunting me until I came up with Hendu.  I even got heralded rookie Ty Waller (one whose prematurely optimistic expectations resulted in him getting mentioned in Terry Cashman's "Talkin' Baseball" released that season) who opened in centerfield.  I believe the original reason Fork was sent to New York in 1978 was to sink the career of Henderson, who was a highly-touted Met prospect before disappointing and getting dealt to the Cubs, for whom he also disappointed.

There was a time in the dark, early days of the blog that Tdubbs doesn't know I have that I would occasionally write about baseball. Specifically, all of the flotsam that played 3rd base between Santo and Ramirez. I remembered the name Len Randle.

Oh, and the Cubs opened in Japan against the Mets, so you always had hope that as you watched Rick Aguilera cough up a late lead while having your bacon and eggs, a 9.1 earthquake and tsunami could ravage both teams' rosters.

Speaking of earthquakes, we had a couple of modest ones yesterday here in Berkeley.  The first, in mid-afernoon, was only a 4.0.  But it felt like more because the epicenter was 3 blocks from my home.  The second was a 3.8 at 8:19 pm.  We were sitting in a theater watching Rita Moreno (you have to remind yourself that she is 80 years old) performing in a one woman show.  The theater is two blocks from the UC Berkeley campus, which was the epicenter of the second earthquake.  The poor lady almost pee'd her pants (her words, not mine) as the sets swayed and the lights bounced.   She asked the audience if she should continue and since there is no refund for earthquakes we demanded that the show go on.   (No damage to our house and none was reported in the paper, but Rita  wandered off on a couple of tangents for a few minutes)
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)
