"He is associated with White Sox baseball maybe like nobody else has for quite some time," Stone said. "They realize that he might be the ultimate fan. So, when things aren't going well for the team, he gets grumpy. Grumpier than the normal person would get who would be doing that particular job. ... For those of us who don't have those phenomenal highs and exceptional lows, it become a little bit difficult at times to relate."

Speaking of Borb, the D-backs will make a run at him. Speaking of the D-backs, they'll make a run at Stone as well.

I think most of them do enjoy him. What's annoying is when they compare him to Harry Caray or Santo. Caray was nationally beloved - of course some people hated him but not many. Santo was a color analyst and so while annoying and pretty useless he wasn't calling the play by play. And when the Cubs did something terrible he was the opposite of Hawk and screamed and hollered openly instead of curling up into a ball of silence.

Hawk sucks. The entire country thinks he sucks. But Sox fans, who are a really strange group of people, like him, generally speaking. He'll be around until he dies.

What they should and can fix is their radio team. Two analysts do not a good listen make. Neither are good at either job but the least they can do is bring in a professional play by play guy on that side. I'd argue the radio feed is exponentially more unlistenable than TV.

It's also a small fan base.  A very brilliant way to appeal to people who are not fans of your product is to have the voice of that product drive you away in droves.

The radio guys, wow do they suck. Boring, incomplete descriptions, pointless inside jokes, garden variety analysis. It doesn't even matter which does PxP. They're both lousy. They're also more easily avoided than Hawk though.
