I've heard Brian Cashman's name thrown out a couple times. Why in the world would any GM want to leave a team where he can spend money like it's about to spoil for the Cubs?

I'm asking because I don't really know, but why is Cashman considered such a great GM? Doesn't he just throw the most money at every FA, basically doing the same thing Hendry does, just on a larger scale?

Difference is, the Yankees outspend their incompetence.

Maybe he's got an ego and wants to prove he can be a success without unlimited funds.

A New Yorker with an ego?  Surely such a creature does not exist!!
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

If that were the case, he could try it in the Bronx & be lauded as the greatest baseball mind of his generation.

You don't think the Steinbrenners are telling him to spend? They're setting the budget, not him.

I'm still getting caught up...what news of CT's beloved Oneri Fleita? Is keeping him on as minor league czar the one condition the new GM must accept to be hired?

Well, Fleita and Wilkens haven't quit yet, its only a matter of time.  Especially since Ricketts will undoubtedly hire someone who is worse.

Yeah, but if he could bring in a World Champion for $60 million, he'd of done it by now. Best way to have your ego stroked is by saving your bosses money.

How many asian players are on the yankees? It was a slap in the face to asian culture when they didn't bring back matsui.

Irabu killed himself in shame after they let Matsui go. The Bronx Bombers might as well have bombed Hiroshima all over again.

I think Matsui is really happy and doing well in his new home. So everything's cool. It was a good decision for both parties. What time do the Bears play tonight? Is the lockout still over? Slezak still single?

It's hard to save your boss's money when they are going over your head and spending that money on middle relievers you were against signing. It sounds like the Steinbrenners are determined to spend no matter what Cashman says.

How can you be celebrating the firing of a man who had a real job in this economy? He toiled in penniless anonymity for 17 years and this is the thanks he gets? Sent packing with no hope in sight? How is he going to feed his kids? How is he supposed to look in the mirror now that the paychecks had stopped? Sure, they were meager but it was enough to put a few scraps on the table (less the lion's share that he ate before he'd get back from those Jewel runs). But now, he's got nothing. No job and no future. And we have the gall to laugh and celebrate? How dare we.

He'll probably never find work again and you'll all be sorry you whooped it up when you see him panhandling outside of Sluggers looking gaunt and pathetic. Go ahead. Throw him a dollar or two. It's the least you can do to make up for your reaction.

Maybe he can pawn his honorary street sign from Park Ridge.

Park Ridge can kick a man when he's down! What's next, a village ban on pastries?
