This is not a parody site, but an actual article.

QuoteSt. Louis seems to perform much better against teams over .500 this year than anyone else

they are 22-34 against .500 or better teams.

The shitty thing about the article is that the premise, although not probable, isn't totally without merit.

In some ways, the 2016 Cardinals are the mirror opposites of the 2015 version.
They are underperforming their Pyth record by a good 8 games (they have a fairly nice run differential).
They have been somewhat unlucky in terms of health and are getting healthy just in time (even if they lost their starting SS but just in time for last year's starting SS and their starting 3B to get healthy).
Wainright is finally pitching well and they finally have seen teh light in regards to Rosenthal and have a really good replacement for him.
They have a really good offense, somehow.

Their ROS projections aren't so bullish on their prospects, though.  But, they've outplayed them so far.

If the writer's point was made around this, I'd be willing to accept the facts even if I disputed the conclusion.  But, he took teh lazy way out and fuck him for it.

All in all, fuck those assholes.  They can't hold The Cubs' jock straps and they know it.  I'll enjoy all these right into November.

The Cardinals have been unlucky and yet lucky at the same time. They've underperformed their Pythagorean records, yes, and they've had injury issues, sure, but they've also gotten ludicrous performances well above career norms for guys like Brandon Moss, Jedd Gyorko, and Aledmys Diaz. Eric Fryer hit like .400 for them before they DFA'd him, Hazelbaker had an outrageous first couple of weeks. Projections are naturally skeptical of their offense going forward because when everyone seems to be having a career year but Yadi you can probably expect quite a few people to regress. Also (and I know the Cubs are somewhat inflated by this as well), they have like a +77 run differential against the Reds/Braves/Brewers and a +11 against everyone else. They are the very definition of bumslayers.

TL, DR: they haven't won as many games as their runs scored says they should have but they probably shouldn't have scored that damn many runs anyway.

DPD, in more detail:

Cardinals vs ATL/CIN/MIL: 16-5, +79 run differential, 7.2 R/G, 3.4 RA/G.
Cardinals vs everyone else: 40-44, +10 run differential, 4.5 R/G, 4.4 RA/G.

Cubs vs ATL/CIN/MIL: 18-9, +73 run differential, 6.3 R/G, 3.6 RA/G
Cubs vs everyone else: 46-32, +96 run differential, 4.7 R/G, 3.4 RA/G

They're frauds, goddammit.

I agree.  I was just saying that the writer could have made a slightly more compelling argument by Googling a couple of things instead of relying on the tired and lazy argument of "Because Cardinals".

yeah but sadly in our lifetimes "Because Cardinals" has been sufficient. We can only hope that's no longer the case.

I actually kind of want the Cards to win the Seligcard, then the play-in, just so the Cubs can sweep them by an aggregate score of 60-0.

I'd rather they just miss the playoffs entirely since bad luck can absolutely strike in a 3 game sample size, given that they already swept the Cubs at home this year.

I want them to lose all their games. Even the simulated ones.

And then they'll draft some grindy white fuck with the 15th pick next year and he'll come up September 2017 and bat .650

Scott Schebler's fuck you St. Louis bat toss was gratifying. Also, that was a massive HR.

Reds up 7-0 headed into the 7th. Go Reds!

Also, nothing new here, but Joey Votto is awesome. He's hitting .500/.605/.759 since the ASB. And yet Marty/Thom hate him because he only has 12 RBIs over that span.
