Also, how the fuck do you suspend a GM for 8 games? Is he not going to be able to make phone calls? Are they going to take his Blackberry?

I'm going to guess he'll lose 1/2 of his pay to start.

Couldn't they just dock his pay then? I just don't see how you can suspend an executive for eight games when all he does during those games is sit in a suite and watch the game. Is he barred from team facilities during those game weeks? Incapable of communicating with his staff? That just seems pointless.

I'm sure they'll have a laundry list of shit he's forbidden to do and if they find out he's in violation of any it, they'll damage his pockets even further.

Well, I think we can assume he's probably not going to be allowed to negotiate with Brees during that time.
They might want to try and fast-track that a bit.

Or decides who goes on IR, waiver pickups, etc during the first 8 weeks. I don't think "sitting in a press box and watching games" is the entirety of an NFL GM's responsibilities during the actual season.

I know that. That's why I found the 8 game phrasing a little odd for an executive. Wouldn't "barred from team activities for first half of season" be more appropriate?

I'm sorry the semantics of this twitter-announced suspension aren't explicit enough for you.

The amazing thing is, here you have an NFL franchise being punished for offering bounties on opposing players, and CNN texted me to say Tim Tebow had been traded.

I feel like this might be an overuse of the word "amazing."

Also, if the Jets really did fuck up a trade for Tim Tebow, where does that rank on the never-ending list of Jets stupids?

Michael Bush is now a Bear. Good player, similar to Barber but with less wear and tear. Good insurance for a Forte holdout. Hopefully Matt realizes he has absolutely no leverage now and he'll sign a contract with a much friendlier cap hit than 7.7 mil a year.

I think he's a lot better than Barber and a heck of a lot more durable.
Wore down as the season ended last year, but they fed him the ball a ridiculous amount of times once McFadden got hurt.

I think it's a really solid signing.

Yeah, big backs like that really don't hold up well as full time starters. Limit him to 10-15 touches a game and look out. Plus, he's a good receiver as well, so that helps. Between the contract he turned down last year, the injury blowing up in his face, and the Bears having a quality number two, Forte has to realize he's got no options, right?

Didn't Forte complain last year that the Bears were overusing him? And now he's upset about the signing of a capable backup that can lighten his workload?

WHICH IS IT, MATT?
