Rumor has it Beckman will stay but at least two staff members will be (cough) politely asked to leave. (cough)

Bernstein just reported that Illinois is engaging in some back channel talks with a somewhat high-profile coach (unnamed, but will satisfy the boosters) to replace Beckman.  If this coach agrees, Beckman is gone; if he doesn't, Beckman will remain.

I wonder who the unnamed coach is?

Jim Tressel.
Charlie Weis.
Ron Zook.
Gary Barnett.
Kevin Wilson.
Jerry Sandusky.

If, it's "somewhat" high profile, then how about
Bobby Petrino?
Mike Locksley?
Ron Turner?
Mike Tice?
Dennis Green?
You two wanna go stick your wangs in a hornet's nest, it's a free country.  But how come I always gotta get sloppy seconds, huh?

They could do worse than Dave Doeren, but if Doeren waits another year and has another season like this past one, he'd likely get a crack at a better opportunity than what might await him in Chambana.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

"Hi, SKO."

I could wish nothing more on Josh McDaniels than to have to coach the Fighting Illini. That'll kill his career right good. Also, if Bobby Petrino is willing to listen they'd better tell him he can have all of the young, married trainers and motorcycles that he wants.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

My sources tell me that Bernstein's Illinois source sucks.

I just got an email from the Cal athletic department asking me to renew my season tickets.  It looks like Cal opens the seaon at home against Northwestern and plays its third home game against Ohio State.

I know that you're not going to try to pretend that my visit to DeKalb and NIU's elevation to the lofty heights of no. 21 are just coincidence.  When Jordan Lynch wins the Heisman, he'd better fucking mention me.

Sheesh.  Stanfurd is in the Rose Bowl.  The perfect end to a dreadful year.

Or is it the perfect beginning to an even worse year?

Plenty of room on the NIU bandwagon, Stew--it's only 80 miles or so from Albany Park.
