The Cubs have certainly had better left fielders than Soriano.

Like five of them. In 137 years.

So, by your math, one every 27 years.

The Bears have had who better than Cutler since 1920? Say we go with Luckman and McMahon. So, one every 45 years?

What are you talking about?

Apparently we need to hate Soriano because the Bears will get a QB than him sometime in the next 27-45 years. Or something. I'm tired.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

You should probably limit the timeframe to when the forward pass was really in play.

They don't seem to have stats until the 1932 season for the Bears, at which point Keith Molesworth and Bernie Masterson were throwing for roughly 400 yards per season. Not until Luckman came in 1940 did they really have any semblance of a passing game.

So, 70 years, 3 QBs = 23.3 years per good QB.

I think you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find many long-established NFL franchises doing measurably better than that.

So is "FYC"  officially expanded to include Jay Cutler?

Nah. Cutler doesn't generate bile the same way Soriano does. Cutler only generates disappointment. It's not like the Bears have ever had a more talented QB than Cutler.  The Cubs have certainly had better left fielders than Soriano.

So to answer Waco's question, yes.

I'm just glad to learn that we have a new FYC beneficiary lined up this far ahead of 2015.

Big mistake by Halas, in retrospect, was letting Bobby Layne go in favor of Lujack, who was much more highly touted coming out of ND but quite ordinary, as it turned out, as a pro.

Oh for fuck's sake, if we're going to draw half-assed parallels between Cutler and various Cubs, let's get it right.

He's Carlos Zambrano.

I don't think you spelled Aramis Ramirez correctly.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I doubt the Bears will get a QB than him anytime soon.

With all due respect, counselor, I'd like to refer you to Slaky's corollary to rule 10.17 (c). Jay may be our A.J. Pierzynski. But Barroid alienated absolutely everybody, embarrassed his team and his sport. There's a guy rotting in prison because he wouldn't rat on Barroid. There is a woman claiming that Barroid was in an abusive extra-marital relationship with her for over a decade. What the hell possessed you to write this?

The bears are 13-42 when trailing at the half in Lovie's tenure. Halftime adjustments are overrated, better to stick to the plan.

I just checked the 2010 regular season, and NFL teams were 58-198 when trailing at the half. A 13-42 record seems to be right around average -- maybe a bit above average.
