Hipsters are naming their kids after Brett Jackson before it's cool.

I swee what you did there.

Cubs sign Scott Baker. 1 year, $5.5 million.

Seems like a good low-risk, medium-reward move.

I'm looking forward to them flipping him for FUTUREBONERPROSPECTS come deadline time.

Plus, maybe now BK will come back and root for his former Twins.

My CubsFutureBoner seems so far into the distant future that I no longer care if it happens or not.

Pretty nice pickup assuming he can get healthy or is healthy or whatever.

His AL numbers are pretty good and he's an actual real pitcher. Unlike whoever those guys were that the Cubs used in August and September 2012.

Soo, everyone's favorite Venezulean hothead pitcher is a free agent.  I am guessing that the Marlins will not be making a run at him, and he will be getting a bit less than $18,000,000 per year.  Maybe I'm just loopy on cold medicine, but I wouldn't mind having him back for a year at $6million or there abouts for a year.  Hope he can put together a salary drive  which could net the Cubs some picks in a midseason trade?

No.

He's been a bad pitcher for the last two years.

He is the kind of player that the Giants pick up and resurrect for a year or two.

Yeah, he's just like Matt Cain, Bumgarner, Vogelsong, Zito and Tim Lincecum.

The Giants resurrected Zito? I missed that memo.

I said "player", not necessarily pitcher.  Scutero, Huff, Pence, etc.  Zito was actually good when he first came to the Giants, and then went into decline until this season.

I admit it...I kind of want the Cubs to take a look at Melky this offseason.
