Supposedly they're negotiating an out for some salary relief.  Didn't get much for Tyler Colvin and DJ LeMahieu, but, what the hell.  At least we were treated to a pretty impressive online self-destruction.

By the way, Iowa played this afternoon before his suspension took.  The new face of the franchise was in the lineup, playing first base and hitting eighth, the meat of an All-Star sandwich between Dave Sappelt and Brent Li'lbitch.  Stewart started the day off with two prompt strikeouts but later drew a walk and, how about that, a solo homer, his fifth, in the eighth.  All five of those homers have come in June, thanks in part to a three-homer day on June 8, and he's hitting .233/.324/.800 this month (in only 30 AB).  Overall he's still sporting an abysmal .168/.286/.372 with Iowa.  Just when he might finally be finding his swing, he opens his big twatter.  How do Cody Ransom's balls taste, indeed.

The "loyalty clause" is pretty vaguely worded, but it's also a standard part of all player contracts.

If mouthing off on Twitter alone were grounds enough to totally void a contract, I feel like we'd see MLB contracts voided left and right. Who would pay money to the Milton Bradleys of the world if it were that easy?

Saw it on TV as Theo was interviewed pre-game and had the same reaction.  Actually to watch Theo say it is better because he plays it straight--no cattiness in the tone but the slight was still unmistakable.   Love this man.
