I fucking love television when you see the closing credits and you feel the need to decompress.

I decompress with a glass of St. Emilion during the show.

We know.

Here is an interview with Nic Pizzolatto the creator of the show. If you were thinking that Cohle might be the killer, don't. The author fucking LOVES that character.

http://www.canada.com/entertainment/True+Detective+creator+Pizzolatto+genesis/9387084/story.html

QuoteIt appears he may have a mild case of Aspergers.

No, he doesn't have Asperger's. He's just a man who doesn't give a shit about most of the social niceties of our society. I think he considers a lot of social niceties as untruthful. He's a man who has own code of honour and he doesn't give a sh-t about anybody else's code, so if you cross the line he's going to slap you in the face. He's unique and paradoxical because, as an isolate — he doesn't have elements in his life creating the sense of responsibility. It's something he carved out of himself. Whereas the other men he works with, who have more governing influences – family and stuff like that – they tend to display a much grayer sense of right and wrong than Cohle.

He's got a hard-on for him like Simon had for McNulty. Marty didn't do it either.

QuoteI think both of these men are straight up heroes — they're flawed men but they're not corrupt. They're kind of throwbacks, for better or worse, to a different kind of masculinity. They're real men.

Close the book on that one.

There are spoilers in that interview.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

I don't have HBO right now, but I've watched this scene online about 500 times. Charlie used her to make the waitress jealous in Always Sunny. Stupid stupid Charlie.

Some insight into the writings in Dora Lang's found diary, read aloud by Cohle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_King_in_Yellow

The King in Yellow. Carcosa.

Fans of Lovecraftian Horror, surely there are a few among the Desipiots, will note the author of The King In Yellow Robert W. Chambers was an inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft.

Is True Detective a Lovecraftian Horror tale?

Read the themes in the link above and decide for yourself.

Another great show, full of suspense and angst. The cliffhanger at the end was incredible, especially since we have to wait two weeks to find out what's about to happen at that god-forsaken lot where Reggie LeDoux (correct spelling per imdb) resides. My guess is a "throwdown in the woods," which the suspect doesn't survive and clues that stretch this plot out in a direction none of us saw coming. The next ep's previews resemble something like "Breaking Bad" meets "The Shield."

Chub level: palpable.

If someone had a bootleg copy of this entire season I would give them literally all of my money to let me watch it.
