I'm confused - is SKO mad they called him up?

No, very excited. They said he won't be the full time catcher though, so we may still get a healthy dose of Teagarden and Ross for 6+ weeks and I was just saying I'd rather have Schwarber and Beef than Schwarber and that two headed monster of suck.

If Castillo was still a Cub, would they have called up Schwarber when Montero got hurt?

5 bitcoins to the guy who guesses the mystery catcher

Piazza, I imagine.

Correct. Give me your account numbers and I'll promise to someday forward those bitcoins

To be fair Piazza's weak defensive reputation as a catcher (as evidence by the positive dWAR most years) was because he couldn't throw very well. That's become far less important nowadays in favor of focusing on blocking and framing, which is allegedly where Kyle has his issues.

FWIW, Piazza was in the top 5 plate blockers I ever saw.

I can't believe you would make us ask for the other four.

1. Scoscia
2. Munson
3. Bench
4. Fisk
5. Piazza

Gary Carter just misses the cut.

These guys were great at planting their feet and getting low to make shitsure there was no easy path to the plate. Just great technique.

I mean, look at this:

So Fork remembers like all of the best catchers of the 70s-90s as being good at catching. Good stuff.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

Jorge Posada wouldn't block the plate for love or money. He's considered a really good catcher.

This is getting weird. Can Fork prove that he DIDN'T shower with a picture of Yaz this morning?
