Thinking about heading down to Comiskular this afternoon.  Anything I need to know?

Redline to Sox-35th.  The Cuban sandwich stand is pretty good. Lots of places for the kids to play, including misters /shower.  Upper level isn't as bad as it used to be, but I would suggest 100 level seats.

Hmm... I had a feeling that might be the case.  There are four tickets right behind home, ninth row of the upper deck, only $33 each (which is definitely under par) but I don't want to take the kids up there if it's going to be dodgy.  I think we'll be priced out of the 100-level, though.

You'll be fine. It's going to be a nice afternoon.
The food is so much better than Wrigley.
And despite all the shit we give them the stadium is pretty nice.
What I have always liked are the acoustics and the mezzanine.
Take the Red Line and enjoy.

Yea, I went with my Aunt around the 4th of July. She got us 6th row behind Visitor dugout and I enjoyed it. Food was good. People weren't any more weird/ugly/fucked up more than any other park I've been to. And yea, like Flannj said, the walk to and from the redline seems like it's nothing to worry about.
