People are a product of the environment they inhabit. To assume that these mythical unbiased reporters of days gone by would be the same reporters in today's environment as they were back then is probably a little misguided, and probably giving them too much credit.

Maybe to me its a 'what's old is new again', but the original reporting (not the analysis or the commentary) from the Times, the Post and the Journal to me strikes me as quite 5W right now (and the bigger the story the more 'straight down the middle' sources seeking to remain credible will be). There are slants and biases, but you know what they are when you walk in.

It's also possible that we've entered a post-information world. Next time you're in your local grocery store, look at the front page of the National Enquirer, and you'll see the front page is all pro-Trump hit pieces..."MEGYN KELLY - WORST MOTHER EVER!!!"

Plus, people on both sides are perfectly happy only reading what comfortably fits inside their worldview (personally, I like knowing what the other side's thinking)...basically, people are happier feeling informed than actually being informed.
