Kyle "Quality Start Machine" Hendricks to start Game 2 Saturday, per 670-AM.

That's gonna cause some assburn for Hammel.

Is that code for "sorta bullpen game"? One time through for Hendricks, one time through for Richard or Wood, a little Hammel, etc.

Why tip your hand if it's a true bullpen game?

If Wacha gets game 2, and the Cubs send a limo for his ass yet again, Joe won't need to have too quick a hook.

Garcia has 2, Wacha 3, Lynn 4.

Jake/Wacha? They might need to invoke a slaughter rule.

Easy on the cup of hubris, friend.  The fact that they've slaughtered Wacha twice is actually a little worrisome to me now, as he's a pretty good pitcher.  ho knows--maybe the Cub s have gigured him out and in any event, I have 100% confidence in Jake, but I imagine this game will be a little less explosive than the last two vs. Wacha.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Looking at the numbers, John Lackey is the entire 2015 Cardinals pitching staff personified. 3.52 FIP, 2.77 ERA thanks to a goddam ridiculous 82.6 strand rate that's almost  a full 10% higher than his career number of 72.9%. Hope this fucker's luck runs out tonight.

C'mon, PAY ATTENTION! He was clearly referring to former Cubs manager and National League umpire Hank O'Day.

Hank O'Day umpired in the National League both BEFORE and AFTER his 1914 stint with the Cubs. He also was on the umpiring crew in four of the Cubs 10 World Series.

He was a crusty old Mick, who tolerated little bullshit, like crediting walk off home runs (he thought you only should get credit for a double if the winning run was on second base, for example), or not running to second on a walkoff single, allowing a middle infielder to retrieve the ball during the postgame dogpile and step on second, ending the game, or standing up in front of the good folks in 202. He has to be a deity to a certain strain of the Elk Grove/Hoffman Estates Irish communities.

He's also a Hall of Famer.

By the way, the Fangraphs playoff odds now have the Cubs as 54.5-45.5 favourites over the Tards for the upcoming series, with their chances of winning it all at 12.5% and 9.5% respectively.  They have the Mutts at 38.8%/9.4% for the same thing and then have the Dodgers as the hot favourites to win it all at 61.2%/23.3%.

What the actual fuck?  I'm sure there's some statfhagghotry behind it but why on Earth would the Dodgers be more likely to take home the trophy than either TEX (10.4%) or HOU (17.3%), both of whom are already one game to the good in the ALDS?  And why would be already be nearly fucking TWICE as likely to win as their nearest competition in the NL, before anybody has played a game?  They won 92 games in a shitty division.  This makes no sense to me.

Kershaw and Greinke, one or both of whom going multiple times in a playoff series, seems like a pretty compelling argument, plus they'd have homefield advantage in an NLCS vs the Cubs, whereas Houston would have to go on the road in an ALCS?
