Rizzo's gotta get going.  I know he's hurt but last night had a very Andre Dawson-in-the-1989-NLCS feeling for me.  Can he possibly be tired?  I know it's only 1st base but he played 160 games and freakin' carried this team the first two-thirds of the season.

If they don't mash tonight things will be looking pretty grim obviously.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel comforted in knowing that the Cubs are relying on an effective pitcher in such an important game.

Looking at past playoff teams, it seems that the ones that become successful often have to do things that they've never been capable of doing before. The Cubs, historically, have never won a series after being down 1-0. I'd like to think - or hope, at least - that the past doesn't matter. Neither do the odds. Sooner or later, the Cubs are going to have to start doing things that they haven't been able to do previously. They might as well start by beating the Cardinals now.

I'll definitely be more nervous today than I was yesterday. I'm less worried about the offense than I am about Hendricks. It's not that I think he sucks, but is he good enough to handle this kind of pressure?

It's funny. The Cubs take a 6-1 lead, which is relieving because it means they have a bit of wiggle room. Then they start letting the Cardinals wiggle and my butt begins to clench. While I'd much rather the Cardinals just lie down and die, the Cubs remain in a great position. I just hate the anxiety.
