I can't believe I've gotten to the point, as a Cubs fan, that this feels like a foregone conclusion, because that is stupid as all hell.

It is. What's the most sure split you could have for the outcome of a single MLB game? Maybe 60/40? 65/35, in a really extreme scenario (which this isn't, because the Cardinals are still a 100-win team)? Maybe ChuckD knows this.

Just trying to talk myself back down into the right kind of nervousness for today.

Fork said earlier he would "like the Cubs' chances if Jake was facing 9 Babe Ruths." I looked it up and confirmed Babe Ruth is dead, so I'd actually give them 100/0 on that one.

But I can't think of a realistic scenario where the base win probability would be higher than >65% for one team in a postseason game.

I would really like this to be the game where the Cubs break the Cardinals.

I'd like that to be tomorrow, when the Cubs come in with a 2-1 lead and win 10-0 to close out the series.

I want to second the "feeling so positive about this game that I'm nervously overthinking it back to negativity" sentiment.

Like this?

How do they get the ten runs? Everyone in the lineup crushes a solo home run, except Rookie of the Year Kris "Not Grichuk or Piscotty" Bryant's being a two-run bomb for good measure.

And you better believe every single one gets a curtain call.

In related news, I'm loving that the AL games will both go to Game 5. I'm still hoping that the Jays can get to the Series if only for potentially selfish reasons. Although, as far as the Cubs run of revenge goes, beating the Mets and facing the Astros in the Series would be pretty fulfilling...

Is there anyway to watch the game online without paying?

Edit: Looks like you can watch for free on tbs.com.

If you have MLB.tv you can watch the broadcast through At Bat by authenticating with a pay account (weak) or watch the quad mode, or individual streams of various other cameras scattered throughout. It comes with the broadcast audio and isn't too bad.

And of course they take the lead the very next inning.
