Castro at short, Baez at second if Russell can't go tomorrow?

Sure, but what about the umpires? I've heard some intimations about the visibility.

I don't think they're allowed to play.

I think that this is the first time that I've viscerally felt that, were the profound losses of imaginary exes to be advanced, that Dubbs would advance to the Mrs. Calabash round.

There are two very simple questions, and they're about that bunt: What did it mean? What was "its" intent?

Does anyone else feel bad that we apparently shellshocked Kurt so badly that he basically preemptively apologizes every time he posts, after being in exile for years?

I feel kinda bad about it.

Is "fuck you" the appropriate response? If it's not, I'm really sorry. Hmm. Not going to post this. Gotta hit the delete button. Shit.

In seriousness, it's partly that I don't want to piss everybody off, but partly that I am continuing in my Canadianization. I take the citizenship test in about a week. If they find out I've been saying things without pre-emptively apologizing, then I could automatically fail.

True story - I have this Canadian client, lives in Saskatoon.

He's wildly inappropriate and will call me and we'll have the following conversation:

*phone rings*
Me: Hello, this is PenFoe (save the dumb joke, Fork)
Client: Hey - what's the difference between a bonus and a penis?
Me: Hey, Andy.
Client: Your wife won't blow your penis.
Me: I'll talk to you soon.

*hangs up*
....
....
....
(5 minutes pass)

*phone rings*
Me: Hello, this is PenFoe
Client: Sorry about that joke.
*hangs up*

This has happened no less than 5 times (with different variations on the joke or comment.)

I malorted a guy from Saskatoon who is both a former CFL player and Keith Magnuson's nephew.

It was awesome.

My new employer is headquartered in Toronto.  I get to go there in January.  Fucking January in Toronto.  Yay for me.

I hope you're at least traveling in the cabin.

Just hope Jason Hammel can avoid the first inning pants-shitting. If he can keep them off of the board even for a few innings I think they'll get to Lackey on short rest, since he's been a whole different beast on the road this year anyway. 3.82 ERA away vs 1.93 at home. .636 OPS against at home, .733 on the road. And for what it's worth (probably nothing), in 4 career starts on short rest he's got a 4.92 ERA.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but if Hammel can be only good enough to get the Cubs to the bullpen with a lead, they can win the fucking pennant with Arrielester teed up for games 1&2 of the NLCS.

Counterpoint not worth noting, in 4 career postseason starts on rest of 3 days or less, he's got an ERA of 2.43, including 6.2 innings of 1 run ball against the Cardinals in the clinching Game 6 of the 13 WS.

Soler will be outless against him

Where the heck are you getting this? Lackey started game 2 of the WS in 2013 on October 24th, then Game 6 on October 30th. By my count that's extended rest, not short rest?

Looks like he pitched 1 inning in relief in game 4, but still, not the same thing.

I see just three postseason starts on 3 days rest (i.e., started, 3 days, starts again) and 2 of them were as a rookie in the 2002 World Series and he wasn't all that effective.

TPD

In the 2002 WS he pitched in three games, a three inning relief stint and then 2 starts on short rest. In that series he had a 4.38 ERA with 6 ER and 5 walks in 12.1 IP.

In 2005 he went on short rest in game 4 of the ALDS vs the Yankees, 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 BB, 6 K.

Since then he has had zero starts on short rest unless you count his single inning of relief in Game 4 of the 2013 WS as I said.

Also, legit question: let's say Lackey is effective. Maybe he goes 5-6 innings tops? Then what? Are they gonna push Wainwright back out there again on his Frankenchilles? We already know Matheny isn't smart enough to make Rosenthal pitch 2 innings.

This is all on Hammel. He has to get through his bogey inning. This is right fucking there for the taking. John Lackey is not beating the Cubs again.
