The fact that it was Lackey made it so much sweeter.

Tears. Actual tears. What a team
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

Pedro's lights-out inning was pretty sweet, too. He must feel like a king right now.
You two wanna go stick your wangs in a hornet's nest, it's a free country.  But how come I always gotta get sloppy seconds, huh?

Indeed. Got his nemesis Greg Garcia out again, too.

The crazy thing about all of this is the timing of Maddon's choices. He chooses to start Schwabe Ruth in the Wild Card, and it pays off. He gives Soler a chance, and he responds with the best post season start of any hitter in history. He loses Addison to a hamstring issue, and Baez responds by hitting the definitive homerun of the game.

What would have happened today if Addison had started? What would've happened earlier in the series if Maddon had kept Soler on the bench? Nobody can say for certain that anything would have ended differently, but doesn't it seem like it could have? Maddon's lineup choices have been incredibly spot on.

*I realize that Addison's day off had nothing to do with Maddon's choices, per se, but I felt the need to mention it since things might have gone differently today had Baez not gotten the start.

Guys I posted here about a decade ago (and once in the late 2000s, or so, who the fuck cares) as RockTheIvy. You guys commiserated with me in 2004. What a clusterfuck. This was amazing. When the Cubs made the postseason, I realized I needed to come back here. Where the fuck else could a long time loser spend his time? With fucking Yellon? Of course. This is fucking special. I hope you're all well. I'll stick around here this time.

And fuck Matt Carpenter/Dickface Holiday/Pudding-brain Matheny. They can play the game the right way in hell.

It helps that they've built a really strong bench with few bad options. Even when they go for defense with Jackson and Denorfia, they've got non-useless hitters.

And the bullpen they've cobbled together basically off of the scrap heap ....

Excellent. Just think of the useless hitters the Cubs have had as defensive replacements in the past!

In my life, I haven't met a Cubs bullpen I felt that I could trust. I still don't trust these guys either... only I distrust them less.

Speaking as a semi-active poster, unlike you crazy people that don't seem to ever have to do work all day and have thousands of posts, I love seeing some old accounts active again. This team, man. This is fun.
