I just want to point out that, when this series started, both the Cubs and the Reds were 5-1 teams, sitting atop the NL Central.

BTW, at one point I accidentally loaded into the Reds broadcast, and I decided to listen to it for a while. I grew up listening to Thom relieving Harry Caray and having Bowtie Tuesdays with Steve Stone, so I probably thought of him more fondly than the rest of you. Then I proceeded to listen to him harp on the Cubs pretty much non-stop, implying that they'll only have a 2 or 3 year window until they begin losing players to free agency, and observing that the best regular season teams do not always see success in the playoffs because they have to be "built to win," or some shit like that.

Fuck that guy. I'm impressed he was able to overcome his jealously enough to put together mostly-comprehendible sentences.
M'lady.

Who says the lose anyone to free agency? As soon as Rizzo's big contract comes due, Lester's paper is up. Arrieta is re-signed at the ASB, I say. And Bryant is eligible in 2022 or 2023? Plus, the Ricketts are buying more properties between Irving Park and Belmont and Racine and Halsted than this guy on a Parker Brothers Game Board:

TV money could dry up, but that would be a system-wide problem, and the Cubs are one of those teams that might be immune to a bubble burst.

Plus, as long as Yellen stays Chairman of the Fed, interest rates will remain low, and... amirite, Chuck?

Also, the Cubs have won 100 of their last 162 regular season games. I think the last time this happened (and Mike D. can surely check the numbers) was from June 8, 1984 through June 11, 1985, when the Cubs went 101-61.

I dunno. It's supposed to warm up. I could see some 11-3 Finals with that dude's line scrolling past with yet another inexplicable dong behind it. He'll cool off surely but he figures to get some balls to hit with the Cubs up large. Colorado's team ERA is 7.20. Lolz.

They decided to disabuse Colorado of the notion that yesterday was the norm.

Was hoping they'd shut Story down completely this series, but 0-for-8 with 5 K's before the double is pretty damn good.

Can't believe the damage they've been doing with their 2-6 hitters not being in form yet. When they get going, the Cubs might score 20 in a game.

This fucking team.

Cubs are now one game worse than their 12-3 Pythagorean record. Fire Maddon.
