There was so much really fucking great garage/psychadelic music out of Texas in the 60s (Moving Sidewalks, Sir Douglas Quintet, etc), but the 13th Floor Elevators were the fucking best. and as bonus cool, Roky gave a big boost to Alejandro Escovedo, who fucking rocks.

The normally execrable "Sound Opinions" actually managed a decent segment on Roky last week. I certainly had no idea that Janis Joplin was almost (for certain values of 'almost') an Elevator.
